Cristiano Ronaldo debut his international career in 2001 for Portugal loses 3-1 against Finland at the European Youth Summer Olympic Festival. After a year he plays for the Under-17 team in UEFA European & Football Championship (2002) but they out in the group stage. In the 2004 Summer Olympics, Ronaldo strike 1 goal but team get out of the tournament in the 1rst round with the bottom position of the group (3points).

Ronaldo plays first time on the senior team for Portugal at the age of 18 1-0 wins over Kazakhstan on 20 Aug' 2003. In 2004 UEFA Euro held in Portugal, Ronaldo got called up and Strick his first goal in the international game 2-1 defeat against Champions Greece on the group stage.


Gets into semi-final after wins over England in a penalty shootout, by scoring the opening goal in semi-final over Netherland 2-1 wins help them to reach final. But finally ended with the defeat of 0-1 against Greece.

 Rumor says bcz of Ronaldo interaction with the referee Rooney gets a red card but later on, referee clarified the reason behind it. Ronaldo scores winning penalty shot to reach into the semi-finals. Defeat against France 1-0 Ronaldo gets lost of criticizing.

Ronaldo captained Portugal after a day of his 22nd birthday due to the sudden death of Portuguese Football Federation president Carlos Silva 2days before the game, friendly game with Brazil on 6 Feb' 2007.


2008 EURO, Cristiano Ronaldo finally get number 7 shirt (1rst time). He strick classify 8 goals in the qualifying round(second-highest tally). But Portugal eliminated in the quarter-finals 3-2 loss over runner-up Germany.
